A Skill is a named grouping of one or more related Abilities — for example, Fishing might group netting and harpooning abilities; Magic might group individual spells.

Skills are not designed top-down as a fixed list handed out in advance. They're discovered bottom-up: abilities get created for whatever gameplay needs them, and once enough exist, related ones get grouped into a named skill.

A skill has no mechanics of its own beyond its member abilities — there's no separate "skill level" resource distinct from the mastery of the abilities inside it. Any skill-wide number (if one is needed, e.g. for gating content) is derived from the mastery of its abilities, exact aggregation to be worked out per skill as needed.
